Our Cozy Fall Maternity Shoot

A few weeks ago, we had our maternity shoot with Better Together Photography and I am so excited to share some of our favorite shots! We worked with Better Together Photography for our engagement and wedding photos, so we couldn’t think of a better team to capture our family’s next chapter.

After discussing our vision of the shoot, we trusted Heather to choose the location and time to get just the right shots. We took our photos at Retzer Nature Center, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

A few maternity shoot tips for mamas to be:

  • Take your photos before you hit 30 weeks (28 weeks might be best)! For me, 30 weeks was when I started to get more aches and pains which can make the shoot uncomfortable at times. More power to you if you take photos after this point, but I would recommend having the majority of your photos taken by the time you hit 30w.
  • Look up photos on Pinterest to know what type of “vibe” you want. I had always wanted a very dreamy/casual maternity shoot in our home, but because of COVID, I didn’t feel comfortable being indoors with a photographer. However, I felt more than comfortable talking to our photographer and showing her what I had originally planned, and she did an amazing job of bring it to life outdoors.
  • Shop early. Being pregnant obviously changes your body, but it will also change the way you feel about your body. Be sure to give yourself some grace and extra time to find outfits that you are comfortable in!
  • Share this special time with Daddy, but get a few shots of just you and baby, too. I love the photos of the three of us, but I’m so in love with the shots of just me and my little guy. I will cherish all of the photos forever.

With our little guy just 6 short weeks away, I do plan on sharing a few more updates before he is born! Be sure to subscribe to the blog, or follow along on Instagram to see when new posts are live.
