Happy February, Everyone! If you are anything like me, you didn’t make any “resolutions” or really have your sh*t together the first month of the year, so we are starting over! 2018 starts now!
I have been way off my blogging game lately. So for my first post of the year, I wanted to do an “update post” to fill you all in on my life and the goings-on!
We are officially 4 months in! The first 4 months of marriage have been crazy. We went on a mini-moon to Kohler, WI, had our first holiday season as husband and wife, I changed my name (#officiallyasummerfield), we’ve combined our finances and accounts, started planning our honeymoon, sent out thank you cards from our wedding, and entered Brian’s final semester of grad school. PHEW, I think that’s it (probably forgetting a few things though…)!
Life has been busy, but nothing short of exciting, and I think we’re almost at the point where the hustle and bustle will soon settle. (Don’t worry, more posts to come with pics and details!)
As you may know, my 9-5 is in marketing. I studied Advertising & Public Relations in college and have been working in marketing for the last 3+ years. On top of my marketing career, I also sold wedding dresses on the weekends up until the wedding. (I have always had an obsession with the wedding industry, and originally wanted to be a wedding planner.)After our wedding, I decided that having two jobs and working 7 days a week was too much for me, and too much for us as a couple. We rarely spent quality time together, and we were always tired or just too busy to really connect. I stop working in bridal, and chose to focus on my career in marketing. That being said, I was unhappy with my job, and even though I got my weekends back, I needed a better office culture and work/life balance, so I started searching… and come the end of December, I accepted an offer with an ad agency in Milwaukee’s Third Ward! I started at the beginning of January, and am loving it.
With all these major, but exciting, changes, I keep telling people that I am still totally in a daze. After having a very relaxing two and a half weeks off around Christmas and starting a new job, my new schedule has been a lot to get use to, and even after a month of trying to get use to it, I still feel totally out of whack! I am hoping, that since February is actually the start of my 2018, that I can get it together and get on top of everything! Fingers crossed!
Friends & Family
Brian and I have been talking about how we want to make more of an effort to spend more time with our family and friends. To clarify, it’s not like we never see anyone… We babysit our nieces, go out with friends for brunch and get together to watch the occasional sporting event or play trivia. But, sometimes we feel like we see some people more than others, and we feel bad we don’t make a more conscious effort to spread the wealth. We want to be better siblings, better children and better friends to everyone, not just to the select few that we see in our day-to-day lives.
We have been trying more to contact people to hang out, even if it’s planning something two months in advanced (yes that has happened, people are busy!). Since life has been so hectic, we want to try to slow down and make time for the people that we love. So look out! You might be getting a text or call soon to hang out! We love you all!
Passports & Cappuccinos
I know I have been really slacking in the blogger department, such is life I guess! But, I really want to get better this year! I have been making updates to the site (if you haven’t noticed), and I really want to blog more and write about topics that you guys are interested in and want to learn more about. I want to collaborate and learn more from other bloggers, while trying to grow P&C.
That being said, let me know what you want to know and what you want to read about! I am an open book, and would love to hear your opinions on content, as well as the website design. How can it be a better experience for you? Let me know, I’d love to chat and grow!
