This year was the second year that we hosted Christmas at our house. Typically, my family goes out to Christmas breakfast, but this year we decided to host a dinner!
At first, I was a little nervous, because we were going to be coming back from my fiancĂ©’s family christmases, and then hosting my parents in the same day. But I actually enjoyed cooking and having my family over after all the craziness of Christmas.
While prepping for my first Christmas dinner, I realized that I wouldn’t be able to do it alone, and that’s ok. Hosting for the holidays can be really stressful, but no one ever said you had to do it all by yourself! Letting others help can take a load off of you and let you focus on other aspects of hosting.
My mom was a great help in bringing things that I didn’t have time to make, like homemade meatballs and some sides. I looked up some recipes and (not gonna lie) bought some frozen items to make it easier on myself, too…
Here is what we had:
Garlic Bread (store bought)
While everything wasn’t homemade, or straight from some fancy Pinterest post, I think ever dish was pretty tasty!
Which just goes to show you that you don’t have to be superwoman and cook everything from scratch all the time. The thing that really matters is that you enjoy your company, and have quality time with your family and friends. I think it is safe to say that our first time hosting Christmas dinner was a success!
I hope everyone had a great time with family and friends over the holidays… Anyone else have any holiday hosting stories or tips?
