The first question we got asked when we told people we were going to Iceland for our honeymoon was, “Why Iceland?” We even were asked that while on our honeymoon, and to be honest, it’s a very simple answer. We wanted an adventure!
While sitting on the beach and enjoying tropical beverages did sound amazing, we didn’t want to waste an opportunity to see the world and have an adventure together. Iceland has so much to offer, from great local food to incredible sightseeing and hiking, and we wanted to take a trip that was a little out of the box. “We can go to The Bahamas another time,” we thought. “We can save sitting on the beach for when we have kids,” “Let’s really go all out.”
We had time to save for the trip and really plan out our itinerary, so we could plan a jam packed 8 day tour to see almost everything the country had to offer, and we are so glad we did.
I’m a firm believer that a picture is worth 1,000 words, so instead of writing on and on about why we chose Iceland, I thought I’d share a few images from our trip to help explain why we decided to road trip around this amazing country.
It was a lot of work and consisted of long nights of planning and researching; and I’m not gonna lie… it was stressful at times. But, as we reflected on our way home, we said to each other, “we wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Did you go somewhere totally out of the box?
Your question is good – I love it. Those who married in:
Snow Castle 2017&2018
They never asked why to marry inside of the world’s biggest snow castle.
Happy and safe travels!
Thank you, Iceland was a beautiful place to visit 🙂
So is Finland also, which offers surprises, reindeer races, cruises on lakes, midnight sun walking on frozen lakes, whatever tourists wants. Unique wooden churches, world’s biggest wooden church, hiking on our Arctic hill among free roaming reindeers, Samba Carnivals in Helsinki etc. Here is my:
