A Thanksgiving Favorite

IMG_5295_edited

Thanksgiving is always been centered around massive amounts of turkey and pumpkin pie. While I have always been partial to pumpkin flavored treats, my absolute favorite Thanksgiving dessert is hands down my mom’s Apple Cranberry Pie!I decided to try it myself this year and wanted to share the recipe!

Apple Cranberry Pie

Makes one 9 inch pie

Pastry for a 9 inch two crust pie

3/4 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 cups pared, sliced, tart apples (I use granny smith, trust me!)
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (whole or chopped)

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 425F. In large bowl, combine sugars, flour and cinnamon. Add fruit. Mix well. Turn into pastry-lined pan. Dot with butter. Cover and cut slits into top crust. Seal edges. Bake 40 minutes or until golden brown.
